A touring retrospective celebrating the work of Salifou Lindou and building the legacy of Cameroon’s artistic heritage.

Project Foundations

"SAVE" serves as the guiding principle of this celebration. Spanning 35 years of his career (1985-2020), the project examines Salifou Lindou's role within the city and the complex challenge of preserving contemporary heritage.

More than just an exhibition, it is a strategic collective intelligence initiative. The goal is to transition from individual work to a national collective memory, engaging institutions, researchers, and the public in a shared effort of physical and intellectual preservation.

Retrospective Salifou Lindou

A Touring Journey

The project unfolded in key stages, blending exhibition, mentorship, and academic reflection:

Stage 1: 35 Years of Art - Yaoundé

  • Exhibition at CIPCA (March 26 - May 26, 2021): Opening of the retrospective, focusing on the heritage dimension.

  • Seminar at the University of Yaoundé I (May 26, 2021): Theoretical reflection on the historicization of the artist's work.

Stage 2: Save Legacy - Douala

  • A moment of direct transmission where Salifou Lindou shared his creative processes with students. This immersive process culminated in a collective exhibition, creating a dialogue between the master's work and that of students and emerging young artists. A true passing of the torch that celebrated the vitality of the local scene.

  • Talk at Doual’art: Critical exchanges and debates to anchor the retrospective within Douala’s urban and social fabric.
